Talking about our mental health should not be a frightening concept. Fear is prevalent and access to services often difficult. James has pioneered for the normalisation of conversations about our mental health for over a decade. The Pub Shrink provides a platform to make these conversation more familiar.
So, why a pub? Since the 10th Century we’ve been using them as places to meet, talk, share and arrange help within our communities – James is continuing that trend to talk to people about mental health!
So, why shrink? Since the 1950's the word "shrink" has been a common way of referring to psychotherapists, psychiatrists and psychologists. Its origin comes from the term "headshrinker," a distinctive practice of the Amazonian Jivaro people. The headshrinker metaphor arguably reflects the feelings of fear, mystery and hostility traditionally associated with the profession.
It's time to dispel the mystery, reduce the fear and talk. The Pub Shrink radio show and podcast is open to all. Let's have more conversations. If you'd like to be a guest on the show please contact us to find out more.
